First up - an apology for a lack of updates on the site for nearly a year. However, all of Jake's time has been spent on the post-production of EVIL ALIENS and his Nucleus Films workload.

All the hard work has paid off, as not only is EVIL ALIENS completed, but it has been picked up for UK and US theatrical distribution by none other than Edward R. Pressman's ContentFilm International, who will be handling world rights sales. Pressman is best known as producer of the The Crow, Bad Lieutenant, Badlands etc. I think you'll agree we're in very classy company here.

The world famous Croisette will get bloody exciting this year as EVIL ALIENS is premiering at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

From EVIL DEAD to EVIL ALIENS... BREAKING NEWS... world class poster designer Graham Humphreys, who designed the original EVIL DEAD and EVIL DEAD 2 posters has been hired to design the EVIL ALIENS key poster art. • The Evil Dead (1.33:1 Full Screen Unmatted Version - as it was filmed) (Nucleus Films suggested this be included as many fans wished to see the film in its correct aspect ratio - and yes, the lightning shot has been re-instated for those geeks who noticed it was missing in other versions)
  • The Living Love the Dead (36 mins) An all-new featurette that examines the EVIL DEAD phenomenon from a British perspective, and its ongoing appeal to both journalists and filmmakers alike.
  • Dead Good Marketing (10 mins) An all-new featurette that examines the EVIL DEAD 1 and 2 UK Marketing Campaign, and its Initial banning on video in Britain.
  • Bruce Campbell: Geek or God (8 mins) An all-new featurette that examines the continuing appeal of EVIL DEAD's charming superstar, Bruce Campbell. (a particlar favourite with Total Film, who illustratred their rave review with screen shots and quotes from this!)
  • The Incredibly Strange Film Show: Sam Raimi (34 mins) Originally broadcast by Channel 4 back in 1988, The Incredibly Strange Film Show, presented by Jonathan Ross, went on to become one of the most talked about cult movie shows of all time. The episode presented here is from the first series, and features interviews with EVIL DEAD luminaries Sam Raimi, Bruce Cambell, Robert Tappert and Scott Spiegel. (Nucleus Films negotiated the deal for this sought after episode to be included)

Also, we'd like to express many special thanks to Bruce Campbell for his help and support putting these together. Keep an eye out for Bruce's Bubba Ho-Tep, due soon!

IMMORAL TALES and BEHIND CONVENT WALLS - These two Walerian Borowczyk featurettes Telling Tales and Behind The Walls include an interview with Boro expert and festival organiser Daniel Bird and tartan Video's Sam Dunn (a huge Boro Fan) plus Nucleus Films' very own Marc Morris!

13 Feb 2003: The Shock Movie Massacre shoot goes awesomely well. Big gore drenched thanks to Art Director Neil Jenkins and Tris & Tim from Life Creations for the ultimate fantastic exploding head. Poor Ms. Booth's head will never be the same! Plus the other "Unholy Trinity" directors were all on set helping out - so many big thanks to Mr. Adam Mason and Alex Chandon. This has really got us all raring to go with the Unholy Trinity project, and financing noises are positive. Also cheers to Emily Booth who got so comfy on the torture chair she fell asleep!, and Howard and Will from OPI for their support. Jake is currently handling the editing, while LLyr Williams is handling CG and FX chores. Here's some Shock Movie Massacre images to whet your appetite:

    Shock Movie Massacre

01 Feb 2003: Mystery Man Big Q. at Falcon Media has expressed an interest in developing "Evil Aliens", and Jake is very excited at the prospect of getting this to the screen. He continues on with a full script for delivery Mid-March. Let the invasion begin!

12 Jan 2003: Shock Movie Massacre: Jake has been commisioned by OPI Media to direct the title sequence for their upcoming programme Shock Movie Massacre. Hosted by the vivacious and outrageous Emily Bouff of Out There, Bits and Cradle of Fear, it's a wild show exploring the world of cult movies and the people that make them. It promises to be the best show in this genre since The Incredibly Strange Film Show. For the Title Sequence Jake promises something wild, sexy and gory! The show will air on Bravo later this year.

22 Dec 2002: Whacked: Jake's short film Whacked has been picked up by Sky Movies for broadcast in 2003, after successful festival screenings at London festivals Frightfest and Raindance, Sweden's Fantastik Film Festival and the New York Film and Video Festival.

Miramax have shown interest in the short and have requested a screening copy (December 2002) but no news back yet from Senior Vice President of Development Jim Powers (get your arse into gear mate!).

Razor Blade Smile Sequel Update: Jake was commissioned to write a Razor Blade Smile sequel script for Manga Entertainment/Palm Pictures (America). Entitled RBS II: The Devils Vendetta, the script was delivered to Manga in Febuary 2002. As no finance has been forthcoming Jake would advise not to hold your breath waiting for this. "As a sequel it was so wildly different from the first film it probably freaked them out too much to consider making. But who knows it might still happen.". However Jake is working on a new vampire opus The Nightmares of Sin Red, which frankly he considers, "will kick the shit out of RBS anyway. Sin Red really rocks."

Other Projects: The next most likely project to happen is an Anthology horror film with fellow young Brit bad boy directors Alex Chandon and Adam Mason. Working title is Unholy Trinity, and Jakes section is entitled Skin Deep. It's currently at third draft stage, and Jake is collaborating on this with writer Mike Donald. If this film goes well there is talk of setting up a new UK horror Production company that will be the real deal new version of what Hammer Studios should be doing right now. If horror has a future in the UK these guys won't shit out and release safe 15 rated horror!

Jake is developing another script entitled Evil Aliens, a sci-fi horror. Speaks for itself really. Script and and pre-production art is ongoing.

Jake is set to direct some music video clips for Cliff Hewitt, from Apollo 440, from his forthcoming solo album Sly Diva in 2003.

Nucleus Films: Jake, along with long time friend, and "cult movie super knowledge mastermind" Marc Morris are setting up a DVD label. Nucleus Films is dedicated to finding the best cult movies you've never seen on these sad shores. After a successful trip to the MIFED film market, the acquisition process has begun and we hope to start shipping out our first releases in Spring/Summer 2005.
